USB flash drives don't have cache so the kernel will put them into  
write through mode.

I've ran across some realtek reader issues where running:

modprobe ums_realtek ss_en=0

would fix the issue.

Is your issue with a reader or something else? Do you have an option   
to specify ss_en=0 or such?
