I had these set  ( for the -m64  build )
--with-rootprefix="" \
--with-libexedir=/usr/lib64 \
--with-rootlibdir=/lib64 \

I am wondering if its not wiser to put  the -m32 (i.e. librarry only ) build 
in say /usr/local  and the NORMAL -m64 build in /usr as there seems to be hard 
links to /usr/lib
