By the way, that's a _HUGE_ kernel.  You probably have quite a lot built 
into it that isn't needed, unless you really don't like modules but want 
to plug thousands of things into it like a general purpose computer.

It shouldn't be too hard to get it down to 3 MB or less, if you care to.  
It'll shorten the compile (by minutes) and load times (by seconds) if 
you do.  Just an FYI.

It's also handy to enable printk timings, makes it easier to see 
relative times of when things happen.
