The book will be using procps-ng.
systemd provides init related files -> reboot, init, poweroff,  
shutdown, halt, etc
  util-linux provides mesg, last and maybe one more
procps-ng provides pidof

This leaves fstab-decode and bootlogd for whatever use they are.
