Eh? We don't install the links in 32 bit udev. Just the 64 bit udev.
You can see in the multilib books changelogs when I removed them from
the 32 bit udev.

Are we talking about the same thing?

No links installed: http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/sparc64/final-system/kmod.html
  http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/x86_64/final-system/kmod.html http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/ppc64/final-system/kmod.html
  http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/mips64/final-system/kmod.html http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/mips64/final-system/kmod-n32.html

Links installed: http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/sparc64/final-system/kmod-64bit.html
  http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/x86_64/final-system/kmod-64bit.html http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/ppc64/final-system/kmod-64bit.html
  http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/mips64/final-system/kmod-64bit.html

If following the boot method and links get installed: http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/sparc64/boot/kmod.html
  in all the other books.

So the error will crop up when following the boot method and then
attempt to recreate the links in chapter 10. In which case, the user
can ignore it or we can add the force option to the link commands.

Sincerely,

William Harrington
