[Clfs-support] question on upgrading a kernel

Greetings

I currently have a clfs (pure 64-bit x86_64) build with gcc4.4.2, 
kernel2.6.30.5.  I want to upgrade to kernel kernel-2.6.33-rc5.

QUESTION:  do I need to beforehand upgrade the kernel headers  as   explained  
(here:- 
http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/x86_64-64/final-system/linux-headers.html)
and if so   how so  and what are the advantages.
Otherwise is normal kernel   configure, compile and install sufficient.
