Good Evening

Wondering if anyone can help me. Last year I built the whole system of CLFS X86_64 multilib and as usual a few gliches have crept into the whole system. I decided to build a whole new X86_64 multilib system and have just started doing the cross-tools
5.11. GCC-4.2.2 - Cross Compiler Final
I have redone everything three times and still get this same error
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build/libdecnumber'
make[2]: Entering directory `/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build/./gcc/xgcc -B/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build/./gcc/ -B/cross-tools/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/ -isystem /cross-tools/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/include -isystem /cross-tools/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/sys-include -O2 -O2 -g -O2 -DIN_GCC -DCROSS_COMPILE -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wold-style-definition -isystem ./include -I. -I. -I../../gcc-4.2.2/gcc -I../../gcc-4.2.2/gcc/. -I../../gcc-4.2.2/gcc/../include -I../../gcc-4.2.2/gcc/../libcpp/include -I../../gcc-4.2.2/gcc/../libdecnumber -I../libdecnumber -g0 -finhibit-size-directive -fno-inline-functions -fno-exceptions -fno-zero-initialized-in-bss -fno-toplevel-reorder -Dinhibit_libc -fno-omit-frame-pointer -fno-asynchronous-unwind-tables \
	  -c ../../gcc-4.2.2/gcc/crtstuff.c -DCRT_BEGIN \
	  -o crtbegin.o
/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build/./gcc/as: line 2: exec: -Q: invalid option
exec: usage: exec [-cl] [-a name] file [redirection ...]
make[2]: *** [crtbegin.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make[1]: *** [all-gcc] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/clfs/sources/gcc-build'
make: *** [all] Error 2

is this a simple fix???
does it have something to do with me trying to do cross-tools on an x86_64 system to a x86_64 system???

The first build of gcc went without a hitch and both glibc32 and glibc64 worked as well.

Tks
