I just got SVN-20081112-PowerPC64-Multilib (compiled under /clfs
using ydl-6 as a host on a ps3) to boot on a ps3:
image=/vmlinux
label=clfs
root=/dev/ps3da2
append="init=/clfs/sbin/pre-init video=ps3fb:mode:13 rhgb quiet"
read-only
uname -a ...ppc64 Cell Broadband Engine, Altivec Supported GNU/Linux
A couple of questions:
1. During boot, there are many, many messages of the format:
vol_id(909): read seekbuf off: 0x40000 len 0x800
vol_id(909): probing at offset 0x0
vol_id(909): get buffer off 0x0(0), len 0x200
Any ideas where this comes from?
2. Sometimes the boot stops at the point where it looks for a dhcp
lease - key strokes are echoed on screen, but there's no way to
progress or reboot. kboot has already acquired a dhcp lease prior to
clfs booting - does ../ifconfig.eth0/dhclient need some parameter or
otherwise to drop and re-acquire the kboot lease?
3. I attempted to copy the way ydl is set up - i.e. there is a boot
partition /dev/ps3da1 mounted as /boot on the root file system. The
clfs build boots like this, but /etc/fstab fails to mount /dev/ps3da1
as /boot. I could always mount this after boot, but any ideas why it
doesn't happen automatically?
The SVN-20081112-PowerPC64-Multilib instructions work very well - thanks.
John
