 -EME_NO_UNDERSTAND : you're saying you downloaded gettext.tar.tar
 (possible typo?) from an unspecified mirror, but using the correct tarball
 (which the book already points to in section 3.2) fixed this for you ?

 So, what would you like us to do to fix this for you ?
